Scale Day
West Row
Sunday 28th June 2026 12:00pm
The ‘Scale’ Day is an opportunity for members to display and, weather permitting, fly ‘scale-like’ models which don’t necessarily appear at normal flying sessions.
This year, instead of scoring each model, participants will simply be asked to vote for their ‘best’ three models, using whatever criteria they wish.
We hope that this change of emphasis will encourage as many members as possible to take part this year.
Usual BBQ arrangements for a club day. Spectators welcome.
Event Format and Rules
- The event is open to any club member with model(s) that resemble a full-size aircraft.
There is no requirement for true scale fidelity.
- Each entrant may enter a maximum of four models.
- On arrival, each entrant must complete a uniquely numbered card for each model they
wish to enter. The only details required are:
A. Entrant’s name B. Description of the model C. Any additional information which may be of interest to others
- Entry cards must be completed and placed with the corresponding model, in the pits, by 13:00.
- Each member (regardless of whether they are an entrant themselves) will be given a voting slip on which to nominate what they consider to be the ‘best’ three models on display.
Formal viewing will finish at 14:00 by which time voting sheets must be passed to the event organiser.
Competitors may not vote for their own models !
- The trophy will be awarded to the model/owner with the most votes overall.
Note: As required by our planning consent, we have notified the Parish Council that this will be the first of the three events this year at which i.c. models will be flown on a Sunday. Consequently, i.c. models with a noise test certificate may be flown during the event.
|
We were fortunate that the extremes of the recent heatwave had moderated for Sunday's event although, unfortunately, they were replaced by a strong, gusty wind which meant that only 3 members took to the air.
The conditions may have accounted for the relatively poor turnout at the event, but those that did attend enjoyed Howard's efforts at the BBQ and ranked the 11 models on display. As announced, rather than the weighted scoring system used in previous years, each member was simply asked to vote for their three 'favourite' models. The results are shown in the table below. Thanks to Ian for arranging the competition and the scoring on the day.
